When I began investigating a massive sex abuse cover up at Kanakuk Kamps in the beautiful, mountainous Ozarks, I discovered hundreds of victims and dozens of perpetrators.  Still, the church yawned at my investigative journalism detailing these crimes. They assured me that they had wonderful experiences at this camp, and claimed it wasn’t right to call them out for all of the bad that also happened.  But there’s no statute of limitations on truth.  This painting shows the chaos that lurked beneath this bucolic environment and emphasizes the need for people to see both the good and bad aspects of their experiences – and not to ignore either.
