After I wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post describing my sexual abuse, I felt like I was walking through deep water – slow and laborious.  The world was passing me by, as I muddled through in slow motion.  In this painting, I attempted to show this confusion, this zombie-like state, this turmoil… but the light – finally – began to shine through.
